Milkshakes!

As we enter the coldest part of winter where the high temperatures in Delaware cease to rise above freezing, Nathan came up with the brilliant idea to have milkshakes for snack. A couple notes on this: while a single milkshake is delicious, two or three milkshakes create a terrible dairy-fullness that is pretty terrible. Therefore, I recommend choosing one flavor and enjoying others on another day.

That said, milkshakes are pretty tasty, and also pretty easy to make as long as you have a decent blender. I have a Food Ninja which I admittedly bought for the super sweet name. Also, it comes with a large and small version and is much easier to clean than a traditionally shaped blender.

Here's the basics of a milk shake:

Approximately 2 cups of ice cream (about 4 scoops)
1/8th cup of milk
blend

That's it! But that wouldn't be very exciting so we took it to the next level with some add-ins and flavorings.

Chocolate Coconut Milkshake

2 cups of chocolate ice cream
1/8th cup of milk
1 tsp coconut extract
2 Tbsp chocolate chips
whipped cream and sweetened shredded coconut for decoration

Add the ice cream, milk, extract, and chocolate chips to your blender. Blend. Pour into a cup. Top with whipped cream and shredded coconut. Enjoy!

Cookies and Cream Shake

2 cups of vanilla ice cream
1/8 cup of milk
3 oreo cookies
whipped cream and additional oreo for decoration

Put the oreos in the bottom of the blender (this way they get chopped up). Add in milk and ice cream. Blend. Top with whipped cream and another oreo for decoration.

Chocolate Peanut Butter Shake

2 cups chocolate ice cream
1/8 cup milk
1 tbsp peanut butter
whipped cream, chocolate syrup and a cherry!

Add your peanut butter, ice cream, and milk to the blender. Blend. Using your chocolate syrup, draw a line along the top inside of the cup. The syrup will sort of flow down the outside of the cup. This mostly looks cool, and you could do it with any of the shakes.

Top with whipped cream, chocolate syrup, and a cherry.
